BAKERSFIELD, Ca. (January 9, 2009) - The Bakersfield Speedway is proud to announce their 2009 event schedule. The historic Bakersfield Speedway is a one third mile high banked clay oval that has been home to auto racing in Bakersfield, CA since May of 1946.As Kern County’s premier offering for professional auto racing waves the green flag for its 2009 season giving the Bakersfield Speedway the recognition of being one of the oldest continuous operating racing facilities on the West Coast. A total of 32 exciting events will form the 2009 schedule that will stretch from early March into October. Throughout the season, 12 different racing divisions will compete on the always eventful bullring speedway that will pride itself on promoting affordable, quality, family entertainment every Saturday night.
The 2009 racing season will begin on Saturday, March 7 as the Budweiser Championship Series will open its season campaign at Bakersfield Speedway. This championship series is comprised of the six house divisions that will compete in approximately 15 events each at the California dirt track this season.
Six different guest divisions are slated to appear throughout the season. Topping the list of special guests will be the NMRA midgets that will make a total of six appearances during the year. The 360 non winged sprint cars will make multiple appearances this season along with the powerful dirt late models making appearances on four different occasions and the USAC / Ford Focus midgets competing two times during the year.
"Our goal in 2009 is to provide a racing schedule that will give our fans a season full of high quality racing entertainment at the lowest possible ticket price, and we are confident we reached that goal with our 2009 event schedule. We feel that in 2009 we need to make every Saturday night a special event with fun activities to go along with the great racing we have always provided. The result is a fun filled 2009 schedule of racing and family entertainment" stated owner Scott Schweitzer.
